Cybersecurity Workshop at USTM

A workshop about web application security and penetration testing was held at Universidade São Tomás de Moçambique (USTM) on July 21, 2022. The workshop consisted of a theoretical and a practical part: First, the principles of Penetration Testing and different attack scenarios were explained. Afterwards, the students tried out every attack themselves in a simulated environment on each workstation at the laboratory. In summary, 14 students attended the workshop.

2nd Coordination Meeting at UEM

The coordination meeting at the Universidade Eduado Mondlane (UEM), which was originally planned for March, was taking place at November 08.-12., 2021. Important contents of the meeting were: Discussion of the current status of the new modules, the description of the modules and planning of activities for 2022. During the meeting, there was also a tour through the laboratory for students of the UEM.

The working devices (Laptops, etc.) provided by the project (5.000,00 € in the first year of the project) were additionally comprehensively funded by the Mozambique Community Network (MCNet), a partner of UEM in the ProSeM project from the business sector. This means that 25 fully equipped workstations as well as presentation equipment (beamer, whiteboard) are now available for the training of future students in the new master’s program.

1st Coordination Meeting at UEM

The cooperation of the project successfully continued with the coordination meeting at the University Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) in Maputo (March 09-13, 2020). During the meeting, a workshop was organized (March 10, 2020) to consolidate and establish new contacts with representatives from the economy, the public sector, academia and research.

The Mozambique Community Network (MCNet; business) as well as the Instituto Nacional de Comunicações de Moçambique (INCM, public sector) were visited. In the scope of this visit, project objectives were reported and cooperation opportunities were discussed (e.g. in the form of internship opportunities for future students).

The workshop at March 10, 2020 was organized with the UEM Computer Science Center (Centro de Informática da Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, CIUEM) and representatives of other UEM faculties (Faculdade de Ciências, FC and Departamento de Matemática e Informática, DMI). The educational objectives of the new specialization were discussed.
